Iron & Clay cowpeas are a summer annual legume. Cowpeas are the most productive legume in warm regions of the United States. With their highly digestible, protein packed leaves they are commonly used as a warm season forage for deer and livestock. They are also commonly planted as a cover crop because they fix nitrogen, they have fast, weed-suppressing growth, and they are exceptionally drought and heat tolerant.
