70 days. Georgia Southern Collard seeds grow cabbage like dark green leaves, with a slightly crumpled texture. These collard leaves are huge and juicy, making them excellent for salads and the like. These seeds grow a non-heading type. The collard heads are both heat and cold tolerant. Their mild cabbage-like flavor will improve after being exposed to a light frost. Georgia Southern Collard is slow to bolt. Each plant grows 2 to 3 feet tall. Collard leaves are high in Vitamin A, B1, B2, and C. This variety is good for freezing and canning.

Growing Directions:

Georgia Southern Collard seeds can be sown directly outdoors or indoors, three to four weeks prior to the last frost of the season. Sow the seeds or transplanted seedlings in rows 18" apart from one another, with plants 6" apart. Georgia Southern Collard seeds need an area with plenty of sunlight, and should also be watered often, avoiding getting the leaves wet when doing so. Water the collard heads with around one and a half inches of water each week. When determining what type of soil is best for these collard seeds, choose one that is full of moisture, and has a pH between 6 and 6.5. Keep an eye on your collard heads after the seeds have had 70 days to grow, as they should be ready for harvest. The collard leaves can be harvested as a whole head, or individually. The later will promote continual growth throughout the season.
